DERMATOLOGY NURSE CONSULTANT

When you have a skin condition it can be distressing and make normal day to day activities uncomfortable or even painful. It is important to seek specialist advice so that the condition can be treated. You should be relieved of the itching, soreness or discomfort. As a dermatology nurse consultant I can offer you advice and treatments for acne, eczema, dermatitis, psoriasis and rosacea.

What is a dermatology nurse consultant?

I am a registered nurse who has specialised in dermatology for over 15 years. I am able to prescribe the treatments and medicines that are used to treat skin conditions. I also have a Masters Degree in advanced practice that has supported my development in reviewing new patient referrals from GPs and self referrals from patients and managing their skin conditions.

How would an appointment help?

As an experienced dermatology nurse I am aware of how distressing skin conditions can be and also that many people find the information confusing. My aim is to find out how the condition is affecting your day to day life, what has worked in the past and what has not helped, then to develop a treatment plan. I will discuss how the treatments are used and how to incorporate them into your daily routine. The first appointment is timetabled for at least 40 minutes to allow sufficient time for a full assessment.

What will happen at the appointment?

I will ask you questions about your health and lifestyle, find out how the skin condition is affecting you and what is causing you the most difficulty. I will examine your skin. We will then review the treatment options and plan which treatments will be the most effective and also how you will manage the treatments in your day to day life. If required I will demonstrate how to apply the treatment.

If you have concerns about your treatment or skin condition then call to make an appointment for empathetic and professional dermatology nurse consultant advice.
